“There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.”
Vladimir Lenin
In the span of eight days (July 13–21, 2024) Americans witnessed:
An attempted assassination of a former president and the frontrunner in the 2024 election.
A palace coup against President Biden and the installation of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee without any democratic voting process.
If nothing else, those who worry that a second Trump presidency marks the end of American democracy no longer have to worry. The events of July 13–21 provide conclusive evidence that the United States has already crossed that Rubicon.
The official accounts of the Trump assassination attempt and Biden’s volte face decision not to run for President are too preposterous to address. Instead, I’m raising the bullshit battle flag and saying enough is enough!
Since 9/11, we have been lied to consistently and slowly boiled like frogs. Now, believing, or at least giving the benefit of doubt to, bullshit is the new normal. There is only one cure for this condition, and it is the cathartic application of the truth. If Americans want democracy, we must have the courage to hold a national reckoning. Let’s not focus our ire on each other for a change. Instead, let’s shine some light on those directly responsible for America’s rapid decline.
Given the piss poor performance of our corrupt leaders (democrat and republican), foreign policy mandarins, alphabet soup intelligence agencies and fifth column press, America needs a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. This should not be yet another partisan criminal investigation, but an exercise in “restorative justice.” Truthful testimony should be traded for amnesty. The time has come to clean out our national closet: the JFK and RFK assassinations, Henry Kissinger’s entire career, the creation of the Mujahadeen, Contras and Cocaine trafficking, Whitewater, Vince Foster’s death, the 9/11 attacks, Iraq’s WMD, the American “black site” torture archipelago, the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame, the “too big to fail” bailout of 2008, Benghazi, the origins of ISIS, Syria, Hillary’s private email server, Trump and Russia, Russiagate, the “unmasking” requests, the Big Tech/Big Pharma/Big Insurance monopolies, the origins of COVID, the lives and deaths of Michael Brown/Breonna Taylor/George Floyd, the entire Jeffrey Epstein saga, the Mueller and Comey investigations, Burisma, Hunter’s laptop, the 2020 election, the millions of military-aged males who have entered America illegally since 2020, the Corporate Cultural Revolution of 2020, the January 6 riot, the origins of the war in Ukraine, war crimes in Gaza, the opiate epidemic and more.
Just as I look forward to hearing Dick Cheney, Alberto Gonzales and John Yoo explain their decision to make torture an official instrument of US foreign policy, I am equally curious to hear Barack Obama, John Brennan, and James Clapper tell us more about their summer 2016 meeting and the origins of Russiagate. Perhaps those 51 veteran intelligence officials can tell us why they lied and claimed Hunter’s laptop was Russian disinformation weeks before the 2020 election. Most of all, I look forward to hearing from the Big Tech titans. Maybe they’ll regale us with stories about how cheap and easy it was for them to take over public discourse and become the arbiters of free speech in America.
This will probably never happen, but hope dies last.
Trump or Harris? Cancer or cholera? Neither will repair our democracy or slow our national decline because both have been bought and paid for by the monopoly capitalists, Tech Mongols, and Coastal Elites who shape and manipulate public opinion in this subliterate nation. Real change in American politics will require us, the body politic, to break the grip of the crippling fear that has enabled incompetent leaders to hold us hostage for more than 20 years. As Plato pointed out, “We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.”
